"Train like your life depends on it - because it does!"FD Trainer was not created by some big development firm or a company trying to make a buck on just another app.
My name is Carlos V. Herrera. I am a career Firefighter/EMT with Lake County Fire Rescue in Central Florida. I work for a great department that shows up to work hard on every scene. With 22 stations spread over 1100 square miles and about 200 firefighters on the field, we are short staffed and multitasking is our specialty. With many of our stations being 2 man stations and the nearest backup sometimes 15 minutes away or more, you better believe we need to be ready. I don't come from a long family of firemen nor do I have 20 years in the fire service. I do however, have a passion for my career in the fire service and I'm convinced that training saves lives - not just the lives of the citizens we protect, but our own lives. Every time we conduct a search, throw a ladder, tie a knot or assess a patient, we learn something new and build muscle memory. The more we train with safety in mind, the more we practice, the more natural it will all come to us when we need to perform in a real emergency. When things go bad, you will revert back to your training. It's a fact! I hope you will use FD Trainer to train harder, better and more often. Think about all the different scenarios you can encounter as a firefighter and medical professional. Make a list of important benchmarks for each of those situations. Get with your crew, discuss these points and TRAIN using FD Trainer to hit those benchmarks. You will notice your crew and yourself remembering these benchmarks more often and finding more effective ways to complete your drills each time. Our situations are ever changing and it can go bad in a matter of seconds. Get in, get the job done and get out. "Everyone Goes Home" Special thanks to those who assisted during FD Trainer's creation and made themselves available to help make FD Trainer a great tool for firefighters worldwide! I would love to hear how you're using FD Trainer! Send videos, emails, pictures or even screen shots of your drills. Stay Safe, Carlos V. Herrera |
